This policy applies to:
- customers who browse, register, book or pay on the Book For Look website or apps;
- service providers / business and their staff who are listed on, or apply to be listed on, the platform;
- anyone who contacts our customer support team.
It does not apply to what a service provider / business does with your information at their own premises or on their own website, or to how a payment gateway, bank or Digital wallet (Like Jazzcash, Easypaisa) provider handles your card and wallet credentials. Those organisations act under their own privacy policies.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information customers give us
- Account details — your name, gender, mobile number, email address and password. Passwords are stored only in encrypted (hashed) form.
- Booking details — the service and provider you choose, the appointment date and time, and any preferences or notes you add to a booking.
- Support and complaint records — messages, call notes, complaint details and any evidence you send us about a booking.
- Reviews and ratings — the rating and review text you submit after a completed booking.
- Optional profile details — such as date of birth, where you choose to provide them.
3.2 Information service providers / business give us
- Business details — business name, premises address, category, service listings, prices and available time slots.
- Owner and contact details — the name, mobile number, email address and identification or business registration documents we need to verify the business before listing it.
- Settlement details — bank account details used to pay the provider's share and tax details where required.
- Operational records — booking confirmations, completion confirmations, cancellations and responses to customer complaints.
3.3 Information we collect automatically
- Device and connection data — IP address, device model, operating system, app version, browser type and language.
- Usage data — pages and listings viewed, searches made, features used, dates and times of access, and referring pages.
- Diagnostic data — crash reports and error logs, which help us fix faults.
- Location — approximate location derived from your IP address. Precise device location is used only to show nearby providers and only if you allow it in your device settings. You can turn this off at any time.
3.4 Payment information
Book For Look does not collect, process or store card numbers, CVV codes or digital wallet PINs. You enter these only on the payment gateway's secure payment page or in-app SDK.
What we do receive and keep from the gateway is limited to the transaction reference, the payment status, the amount in PKR, the type of payment method used, the last four digits of a card where the gateway provides them, and the date and time of the transaction. We use this to confirm bookings, issue receipts, process refunds and handle disputes.
3.5 Information from other sources
- From the payment gateway — payment confirmations, failures, refund status and chargeback notices.
- From service providers — confirmation that a service was delivered, and their account of any complaint you raise.
- From our security and analytics tools — traffic and threat logs used to protect the platform from abuse.
3.6 A note on sensitive information
Some bookings — for example at a skin clinic, dental clinic or aesthetic clinic — can reveal information about your health or physical appearance. We treat this information as fully confidential. It is shared only with the provider you book, used only to deliver and support that booking, and is never used for advertising or sold to anyone.
4. How we use your information
We use personal information only for the purposes set out below.
Providing the service — Creating and managing your account, holding and confirming appointment slots, sending booking confirmations, and passing the booking to the provider you selected.
Taking payment — Creating a payment request with your booking reference and amount, verifying the gateway's payment notification, issuing receipts, and settling the provider's share after completion.
Cancellations and refunds — Calculating refunds under our published refund schedule, reviewing service complaints and returning approved refunds to your original payment method.
Customer support — Answering your questions, investigating complaints and keeping a record of what was agreed.
Safety and fraud prevention — Detecting unusual activity such as repeated failed payments or abnormal booking patterns, blocking suspicious accounts and defending chargebacks and disputes.
Improving the platform — Understanding which features are used, fixing faults, and testing improvements. We use aggregated or de-identified data for this wherever we can.
Messages and updates — Sending booking notifications by app, SMS or email and where you have agreed, offers and promotions.
Legal and regulatory duties — Keeping financial and tax records, responding to lawful requests from regulators, banks, law enforcement or the courts, and meeting the payment gateway's merchant requirements.
We rely on your consent for optional uses such as marketing messages and precise location. For everything else, we use your information because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for, to meet a legal obligation or to protect the platform and its users. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the bookings you have already made.
5. Payments and payment security
- All card and Digital wallet credentials are handled by the payment gateway, not by us.
- Every payment request is created by our server with a unique booking reference and the exact amount in PKR.
- A booking is confirmed only after our server verifies the gateway's server-to-server notification and checks that the status, amount and booking reference match.
- Refunds are returned only to the original payment method used for the booking or in our in-app wallet. We do not pay refunds in cash or to a different account or digital wallet.
- The gateway is not used for cash deposits, person-to-person transfers or the sale of physical goods.
6. When we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the following situations.
- The provider you book. When you confirm a booking, we give the provider your name, contact number, the service booked, the appointment time and any notes you added, so they can prepare for and deliver the service.
- Payment gateway and banks. We share the booking reference and amount so payments, refunds, settlements and chargebacks can be processed.
- Technology suppliers. Hosting and network security providers, SMS and email delivery services, push-notification services, and analytics and crash-reporting tools. They act on our instructions and may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- Professional advisers. Auditors, accountants and lawyers, where they need the information to advise us.
- Authorities. Regulators, law enforcement agencies and courts, where we are required to disclose information by law or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.
- Business transfer. If the Book For Look business is reorganised, sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner, who would remain bound by this policy until it is replaced with notice to you.
7. Reviews, ratings and public content
Reviews and ratings you submit are published on the business listing together with your display name and the date. Please do not include personal details you would rather keep private, such as your phone number, address or health information. You can ask us to remove a review you have written by contacting support.
8. Messages and marketing
We send service messages — booking confirmations, reminders, cancellation and refund updates, receipts and security notices — by app notification, SMS or email. These are part of the service and cannot be switched off while you hold an active booking or account.
Marketing messages about offers, discounts and new providers are sent only if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time using the setting in your account, or by contacting support. Opting out of marketing does not stop service messages.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies and our apps use similar identifiers to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep your session secure, and understand how the platform is used. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to work. Analytics and preference cookies are optional and you can manage them through the cookie banner or your browser settings, though turning some of them off may affect how the site works.
10. How long we keep your information
Booking, payment, refund and settlement records - Kept for at least 24 months from the date of the transaction to meet tax, accounting, chargeback and regulatory requirements.
Account details - Kept while your account is active, and deleted or anonymised after your account is closed, except where a record must be retained for the reasons above.
Support and complaint records - Kept for up to two years after the case is closed, or longer if the matter is disputed.
Service provider / business verification and settlement records - Kept for the duration of the listing agreement and for at least five years afterwards.
Server, security and diagnostic logs - Kept for up to twelve months.
Marketing consent records - Kept until you withdraw consent, plus a short record showing when consent was given and withdrawn.
11. How we protect your information
- All website, app and API traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS, with Cloudflare protection in front of our servers.
- Passwords are stored in hashed form and payment credentials are never held on our systems.
- Admin, support and service provider / business panel use role-based access, so staff only see the data their role requires.
- Refund, settlement and administrative actions are recorded in an audit trail.
- Payment notifications are verified server-side before a booking is confirmed.
- Staff and contractors with access to personal data are bound by confidentiality obligations.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please keep your password confidential, use a password you do not use elsewhere, and tell us immediately if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
12. Your choices and your rights

- delete your account and the information we no longer need to keep.
- stop sending marketing messages or withdraw any consent you have given.
- restrict or object to a particular use of your information.
To make a request, contact us using the details in section 18. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act and we will respond within 7 working days. In some cases we may have to keep certain records, for example transaction records required by law, even after you close your account and we will tell you when that applies.
13. Children and young people
Book For Look is not intended for children. You must be 13 or over to create an account and make a booking. An appointment for someone under 13 must be booked and supervised by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for the information they provide. If we learn that we have collected information from a child without parental involvement, we will delete it.
14. Where your information is stored
Book For Look is operated from Pakistan and serves customers and providers in Pakistan. Your account, booking and payment records are held in systems under our direct control and we never transfer them to any organisation for that organisation's own purposes.
Some suppliers we rely on like hosting, network security, email, SMS and push notifications are operate internationally, so limited data may be processed outside Pakistan. We permit this only under a written contract requiring the supplier to act solely on our instructions, apply security at least equivalent to section 11, restrict access to authorised staff and delete the data when our engagement ends. We remain accountable for your information wherever it is processed.
15. Links to other websites
Book For Look may link out to a provider's own website, their social media page or other sites we don't run. Once you click through, you've left our platform.
We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for what they show or how they handle your information. If you share anything with them, a phone number, a payment, a message then that's between you and them, under their rules, not ours. It's worth reading their privacy policy first.
16. The law we follow
Pakistan does not yet have a dedicated data protection law. We handle personal information in line with the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and its amendments, the Electronic Transactions Ordinance 2002, applicable State Bank of Pakistan requirements and our payment gateway's merchant terms.
We don't treat that gap as a reason to do less. We also follow the standards in Pakistan's draft Personal Data Protection Bill and in internationally recognised standards such as the GDPR, collecting only what we need, being clear about why, keeping it secure and honouring requests about it. If Pakistan enacts a comprehensive data protection law, we will update this policy and our practices to comply with it.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on bookforlook.pk and in the apps, with the date it was last updated shown at the top. If we make a significant change, for example to how we use your information or who we share it with — we will notify you by email, SMS or in-app notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use Book For Look after a change means you accept the updated policy.
